PROJECTS: MILITARY

RBA Engineers, Inc. has been retained by the US Army Corps of Engineers to assist on many major Department of Defense projects. A listing of some sample assignments is given below.
  1. Joint Mobility Complex, Eielson AFB
RBA Engineers, Inc. prepared the performance specifications for this $21 million complex. Both design charrettes and VE workshops were integral to the scope of work. The site work related to relocation of overhead electrical distribution and telephone service from the utilidor. Special features of the building included secure Red Comm and telecommunications with local area network wiring. All of the parameters were listed using metric values.
  2. FY-04 Dormitory, Eielson AFB
This dormitory is located just west of the FY 01 Dorm and will be three floors, suitable for 96 airmen. It uses a 4-person module, relying on the latest Air Force Enlisted Design Guide, in metric units. The total area is 3,200 sqm or 34,400 sf. RBA is responsible for the mechanical and electrical performance specifications. A special feature is the telecommunications, fiber optic cabling and closed circuit television. The site for the dorm is west of Wabash Avenue and north of Tanana Road. Budgeted construction cost = $14.8 million.
  3. Replace Family Housing, Ft. Wainwright
RBA Engineers, Inc. (RBA) assisted the Corps of Engineers in preparing the mechanical and electrical portions of this Design/Build Specifications. The RFP documents for this work were authored by RBA for the mechanical and electrical disciplines. Our engineers attended a forty-hour design charrette at Ft. Wainwright with the user agency personnel. Value engineering was performed to compare various mechanical system configurations and electrical system options for an $18 million project.
  4. Family Housing, Eielson AFB & Elmendorf AFB
For a thirty (30) unit project, the scope encompassed demolition of five 8-plex units down to the existing basements; reconstruction of five 6-plex MFH units; move all utilities underground. The purpose of the replacement was to improve the functional layout, enhance quality of life for the occupants, and update layouts, in compliance with current Air Force standards.
